Mission life #9 Temple Square and more

Vrijdag, 28 april 2017

Wingapo!
Soo this week was so much fun!! On monday I went to temple square!! It was raining, but I was just sooooooo happy. I couldn't stop smiling iieeeh! We vistited the church history museum, church history library, relief society building, conference center and visitor center and we took pictures in front of the temple. O my gosh it is sooooooooo pwetty!! I will send pictures. This computer won't let me, but I will find a computer that will let me. Stupid computer. #boos. Oh en voor dinner hadden we Subway broodjes me happy!! I loved monday. I felt the Spirit so strong. EVERYWHERE!

I have a goal of drinking more water! And it's going pretty well. Zuster Wallmann is helping me a lot. So I'm trying to teach the missionaries in my branch a  couple Dutch things. It is really funny hearing them trying ghehe. On tuesday we had a devotional. We sang Where Can I Turn For Peace with choir. It was amazing! Elder and Sister Arnold gave the devotional. A few things that stood out for me were:

- sister Arnold talked about bringing people to the light of Christ. Because everyone has the Light of Christ, but we are here to help them discover that. And I think that is really awesome. I love being a missionary.
- Elder Arnold talked about how we need to hear the music if we want to know how to dance. https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2015-04-2060-elder-wilford-w-andersen?lang=eng#d so this is not the video he showed, but it is the same story.

As you know I love music so I loved this video. We can't dance if we don't hear the music, aka the Holy Ghost.

Here in the MTC I learned how to listen to the Holy Ghost. It is amazing! I really love love love the gospel! I know it is true! I know that God makes a covenant, although He knows we can't perfectly keep the commandments. In Moroni 10:33 Father promises us the Savior. That is part of our covenant! I never thought about that, but it is awesome. Also, I know Joseph Smith is a true prophet. Everything on temple square testifies of that. I felt it.

okesoo wednesday was awesome! We had awesome lessons. We taught a teacher (who pretented to be an investigator) with a group. So if you wanted to say something you could just start talking. and I really wanted to share a scripture, but we didn't have time for that. BUT with TRC (it is like a program where we teach people, not knowing if they are members or not) I was able to use exactly that scripture. God just prepared me to share that scripture with her. Te TRC lessons were soo good! I can't wait to teach the people in Suriname about jesus Christ!!!

Thursday we had In-field training, almost all day. We learned a lot about the work in the mission field. We did a lot of roleplays. It was good, but long! In the evening we had class. We taught our teacher as Tanya. And Tanya wants to be baptized jeeeh. Also our other teacher was there. It is the last time I will see her :(. BTW she is the wife of a singer in Vocal Point! Isn't that awesome!! We are her last district, because she is expecting a child in like 2 weeks.

Today I am going to the Provo temple for the last time! I'm gonna miss the temple so much!!

Well that's it for this week! I'm leaving on monday 3.30 am. So early! I'm going to Trinidad and Tobago first. I'm sooo excited! Good luck everything with everything you are doing right now! Don't forget. GOSPEL IS TRUE! That is my new motto geheh. Anyways.

Love you lots!
Zuster Spijkerman

Mission life # 8 Halo

Vrijdag, 21 april 2017

Helllo friends and family!!
I'm gonna do it in English...

I love the MTC! I love learning and growing! But it is also really stressful. Everybody expects you to do sooo much and you don't have time to do everything. And I feel really bad when I don't do everything that is required. But it's a learning process I guess...

We have 2 super awesome investigators (we don't know if they are members or not... but I like teaching them). We had really good lessons. We invited them to be baptized! So funny story. We taught with the three of us, Zuster Wallmann, Elder Santos and I. Elder Santos didn't have a companion, because his companion left the day before. (Now he has one, don't worry). He is soo awesome! He has the knowledge you need! He is a great example! And a great district leader!

My companion and I are getting along really well! I love her! And we are getting really good friends with the Dutch missionaries! It's fun to talk to them!

funny things:
- I taught my whole district 'wat doe je' it is really funny.
- the choir director is so funny
- We were exercising and everytime i touched someone I just electrocuted them. No not really but it was really scary, so I tried to stay away from people. It was really funny. I screamed everytime it happened.
- We tried to make a song for the first vision, or not making a song, but just putting it on a Disney song. But it didn't work. Then we came up with the genius idea of putting it on a hymn!! But didn't work either haha. I took us like 40 minutes. Sorry God for wasting our time! But it was funny and I kind of memorized the first vision (in English though).

My testimony grew so much! I know God loves me! I could feel His love very strongly in the temple last week! It was awesome! Also the temple walk on sunday was awesome! The mountains here are so pwetty!!!!!!!! I love it here, but sometimes sitting still all the time drives met nuts. But it is fine! It is because we are preparing ourselves for being outside all day in the field. I am looking forward to that!

Oh ja! I'm learning Spanish... Kind of.

Hola                                    Hallo

Really good devotional, about that we don't teach people, but we make disciples. Really cool!!!

 Gospel is true!!

 Lots of love,
Zuster Spijkerman

Mission life #7 A MTC experience

Vrijdag, 14 april 2017

Yoooo wassup!
Friday is my p-day, oftewel, e-mail tijd! 😏

Dinsdag: Vlucht ging super goed!

Man man man, wat een accent hahaha.

We kregen onze tijdelijke kamer toegewezen.

But it's fine.

Woensdag: Uhhhhh... Missionaries in my random district:

Elder Santos from el Salvador. He is going to Vancouver  Canada.
Sister Prach, from ukraine. She is going to England something visitor center.
Hermana Robles from Texas, originally from Mexico. She is going to Los Angeles, Califofornia, Spanish speeking.
Zuster Wallmann, from Texas. She is going to... BELGIUM/NETHERLANDS MISSION!!!! She can speak Dutch because her mom or dad is Dutch!

So our whole district knows their mission language + English. We do everything in English, which is kind of annoying hahah. I think we should also practice teaching in our mission language, but we are only going to teach in English here jammer genoeg. I love the people in my district though. We are all in the same room (except for the elder of course). It is fun!!

I'm companion with zuster Wallmann! Super fun! I will send you a picture next time. Her aunt lives in Zwolle, but she is not a member. BTW I met the missionaries who are going to Nederland, but we don't have a lot of time to talk to them, beetje jammer. But it's fun talking to them.

Donderdag: poeh uuh let me think.... We had studytime so we did the plan-study-teach cycle and we had to prepare a short lesson for our meeting with the branch presidency. OOOH ja we hadden een superformiweldigeindefantakolosachtige workshop over people and purpose. We learned about our purpose. "Invite others to come unto Christ, by helping them receive the restored gospel, through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end."

I bought shorts! Finally! Wat een gedoe (met Winnie de Poeh... I made up that song once yeah toch Essie) My debit card didn't work so I went to general something. They sent me to the ATM. I took a while but it WORKED! I'm so happy.

Guys, I love being a missionary. I am so freaking excited! A little bit too excited hahaha. I'm just a happy person okay💁 THIS GOSPEL IS AWESOME! I sometimes forget that being so happy is a way of feeling the Spirit. I know the gospel is true. 3 nephi 27: 13-22 or something is about the gospel.

We gaan naar de tempel vandaag!!!!!!!! (sorry Esther I know you hate multiple !!).

Cool cool super cool.

Nou dat was het wel. Dag hoor!

Lots of love,
Zuster Spijkerman

Ps.

Haaaaai!!!!
Nou ik ben er hoor! Ik ben helemaal veilig! Vliegen is super leuk! Ik was eigenlijk helemaal niet bang. Het duurde helemaal niet lang. Tijd vloog voorbij.

#proud. Ik ben gewoon super enthousiast. Amerika is echt awesome. Alles is gigantisch.
I like it so far.

Well I gotta go!

Lots of love and kisses!
Zuste Spijkerman
